Challenge

For their first new, completely ground up product in many years: the Ellipse all-in-one streaming speaker we worked with them to push the boundaries on how we could showcase the product to its fullest.

Product has always been photographed to show every detail in the best way possible. However, the range of colours available is always restricted. We wanted to give a user unlimited colour options and allow them to peak inside the products and discover the technologies that goes into these phenomenal speakers.

For this new product launch we wanted to improve upon the new elements we had delivered for the DSP9 and DSP8000 XE Loudspeakers.

Solution

We started by reinventing the homepage. Replacing the horizontal carousel  with vertical slices of video to  provide maximum impact as the user scrolls, encouraging them to explore the product further.

These are then combined with a new product shelf that showcases each category, featuring larger images and motion. Every element now slides into the page, to add life and focus a user on one element at a time.

On the Ellipse product page our colour picker and 360° controls are utilised from the DSP9 and DSP800 XE and these have been joined by a new Hotspot control to allow users to learn more about the product by peering inside. Hotspots can be clicked and information and imagery displayed detailing specific features in an intuitive way.

 

 

Result

This was a challenging set of pages and controls to develop. Industries such as automotive can offer any colour and will render out perfect 3D images to showcase them. But our tool doesn’t rely upon costly renders, it uses a few layered images to allow any form of colour personalisation in real time, resulting in less images being required. We developed it to be completely repeatable for any product through the replacement of the base images, which can be updated by the client.

Hotspot imagery locations are controlled by the client in the CMS. Initially showcased in the Ellipse product but created for use on any product.

The updates have been so successful that users have taken screenshots of what they have created, and then discussed these with the sales team before purchasing.

These updates are more than just improvements for a new product; they’re about making interaction with Meridian as enjoyable and fun as possible, whilst showcasing the exceptional products on offer.
